First, we have a few fundamental principles at Horse World Connect:
Like most website operators, Horse World Connect collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request.
HWC also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our blogs. Horse World Connect only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.
One other exception is when a giveaway is entered by a logged in user, the IP address of the entrant will be logged and available for the giveaway administrator to view with the intentions of using this information to help moderate giveaway entries.
Certain visitors to HWC websites choose to interact with HWC in ways that require HWC to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that HWC gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for an account at Rafflecopter to provide a name and email address. Those who engage in transactions with HWC – by listing their business or being a sponsor for example – are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those transactions.
In each case, HWC collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with HWC. HWC does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
When an individual enters a HWC giveaway, they’re able to log into the entry form in various ways - through their name and email address combination and through Facebook Connect.Facebook Connect for Entrants
Although we rarely request entry via Facebook Connect, some of our users prefer using their Facebook account to connect to our giveaway entry forms across the web. When an entrant signs in through Facebook Connect, they will be shown a dialog hosted by Facebook that describes HWC giveaway app’s permissions.
We currently ask for only basic information and email address. By default, your basic information is the information you’ve chosen to make public that’s associated with your Facebook account. This includes certain properties such as your Facebook id, name, picture, gender, and your locale. Certain connections such as your friends also may be available. If the user has made more of their data public, more information will be available.
We ask for your email address associated with your Facebook account as an entrant if you win a giveaway, the promotion admin may be able to contact you. If you enter a giveaway using HWC’s entry form and log into the entry form through Facebook Connect, you will be contacted if you’re a winner at the primary email address listed in your Facebook account. This email address can be found and edited by logging into your Facebook account > general account settings > email.
We take your privacy seriously and stand by the following guidelines when it comes to your Facebook account:
To disconnect the HWC application from your Facebook account, log into your Facebook account, go to your Facebook account settings, click on ‘apps’ on the left side of the screen, find the HWC app and click the x in the row to remove the app.
If you choose not to log into a HWC giveaway entry form via Facebook Connect, the other option is to use your name and email address. This contact information is needed to give to the administrator of the giveaway to help them determine if you’re a winner and contact you if you win.
When an entrant signs into and enters a HWC giveaway, their entrant information is collected by HWC and presented to the giveaway administrator to make the job of the giveaway administrator easy to run, manage, and moderate their giveaways and giveaway entrants.
As stated above, HWC presents this data to the administrator running the giveaway. We also give the administrator the ability to download a list of entries into a spreadsheet format.
HWC may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its websites. For instance, HWC may monitor the most frequented giveaways on the HWC site. HWC also has Google Analytics installed on our site as well as other analytic programs that help us gather feedback and make decisions on how to improve our service offerings. However, HWC does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
HWC discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on HWC’s behalf or to provide services available at HWC’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using HWC’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them.
As an example, if you’re having trouble with your page, dashboard, or listing (whether that be user error or a bug on our end) and you file a support ticket, an employee of HWC may access your account to help decide how to best remedy the solution. This might include opening up your profile and account information (although your credit card information and passwords are never stored by us).
HWC will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, HWC discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when HWC believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of HWC, third parties or the public at large.
If you are a registered user of our Horse World Connect website and have supplied your email address, HWC will send you emails to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with HWC and our products. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. HWC takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
We may store your data on servers provided by third party hosting vendors with whom we have contracted.
HWC’s operations of business are located primarily in the United States. If you provide information to us, the information will be transferred out of the European Union (EU) to the United States. By providing personal information to us, you are consenting to its storage and use as described herein.
You must be at least 13 years old to use HWC‘s web site(s) & service(s). Rafflecopter does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. See the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act here.
If Horse World Connect, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Horse World Connect goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of Horse World Connect may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.
